The Oral Cancer Research & Coordinating Centre (OCRCC) was established to carry out and coordinate oral cancer research in Malaysia. Since its establishment, OCRCC has set-up a biobank known as the Malaysian Oral Cancer Database & Tissue Bank System (MOCDTBS) where data and biological specimens were collected, processed and stored. OCRCC operates with the vision of providing a framework for oral cancer research via collecting and sharing of data and specimen such that there is successful translation of basic research into clinical practice.
OCRCC is made up of experts from various disciplines, including oral maxillofacial surgeons, ENTs, pathologists, epidemiologists and scientists. Therefore, we were able to undertake a wide range of not just research activities, but also organization of seminars and increasing oral cancer awareness activities.
